I want to buy a router to make a laminate kitchen counter. Specifically, a laminate top with a wood edge. I was wondering what would be a good router for the job. Also, what brands are good.

Most any 1-½ to 2Hp router will work. The smaller "laminate trimmers" can get into tight quarters. If this is a "one shot" job then cheap out and go bottom dollar. For one job, most any POS will work.
If you're in for the longer haul the major brands are all well thought of.
