Could someone explain the different types of board/wood, their uses, and their prices. I have been using plywood for various projects but it is somewhat expensive and the sheets are warped. The higher quality plywood is too costly. Is melamine cheaper in price. What is MDO? Thanks for any info

Tall order for a short question!

If you really want to know about wood, and I mean *EVERYTHING* about wood, get yourself a copy of Wood Handbook, Wood as an Engineering Material This is an official US Gov't publication (and therefore *FREE*) that tells you most anything you would want to know about wood. It compares mechanical properties, machinability, paint, stain and pressre treating. etc., etc., etc., etc.,

Get yourself a copy at http://www.netexperts.cc/~lambertm/Wood/usdabook.html

For information on OSB and other engineered wood products like it, try this webpage from Lowe's:
