Question on a Jet mini lathe for sale

OK - I found a Jet mini lathe advertised on Craigslist for $100 - supposedly only like 16 hours of use on it. I have requested pictures, model # and the location of it.

Is this a totally bogus deal?

Thank goodness as I thought I'd read some relies on your question I thought my computer was messing up over here! :)

I had a friend's Jet Mini out in the shop until a week ago. It was the variable speed model with the stand. I used it to finish up a segmented vase and was impressed with it. He had a SuperNova2 chuck on it which worked great.

It COULD be on the up & up... maybe the bodger got hurt & their partner (of whatever type) is selling it? Or... maybe the would-be bodger decided they don't like turning at all & cash ain't a biggie thing to them?

Or... maybe it was a pawn that never paid off?

Only way to know for sure's to go check it out.

It's the 6 speed.
I have one of those. I put a 1/2 HP DC motor on mine and now it's a dicent lathe. But the slowest speed was too danged fast before that.

Waitin' the the A-hole to respond via Craigslist. I don't know what it is - SEVERAL people I have written two from Craigslist and it usually takes FOREVER to get a response, if I get one at all.

Yeah - I've decided that as long as it looks like everything is there, I'm plopping down the $100 for it. Probably about the best deal on a decent small lathe I'll find.
