I'M IN THE FENCE AND DECK BUILDING BUSINESS. I make alot of arbors and trellises. i've seen alot of outdoor projects at garden centers for sale that have been made of treated wood? sanded to perfection. i do alot of cedar and some redwood. my ? is who are the people doing the treated wood sanding? Are they amish or what? they must not care about the air they breath! i don't know but i don't sand any treated wood what about it guys is it possible? thanks jarrett morgan countryscape landscape and construction .......

First off, I doubt the are Amish, as I live in jakey capitol of the world. Second, ever hear of respirators, dust collectors, air filters? Just my 2 cents.

Sanding PT wood is hazardous to your health! You need to wear a resperator and capture the dust to prevent it leeching into the water table. You shouldn't even burn the dust or scraps!

Stuff is probably being made in some 3rd world country where they've never heard of OSHA!

HEY !!!

BEWARE !

The dust is definately a factor. But the biggest hazard is the moisture and vapors. Your respirator should have vapor grade
cartridges. And the carsinogen (sp) laden moisture is absorbed through your skin hence the need for gloves and long sleeves. And those trellises being made, hope they're not used in vegatable gardens.
