Yah, I know, here I go again. But this, I think,is an original.
Cleaning out the shop the other day and come across a shoebox of casters off some discarded chairs. Its the yankee in me, what can I say. Anyway the proverbial light bulb lit.
Heres the idea. I made a circle from scrap MDF. MOunted six (figuring the more the better)around the perimeter. Took a 3/4"
gas pipe flange and a short piece of prethreaded gas pipe long enough to extend beyond the casters. Next I put a hole in the top of my work bench to accept the gas pipe (a little larger dia.)
I now have a lazy suzie (24") I can rotate my project on instead walking around. The center rod prevents the lazy suzie from travelling off the bench. If I want to use it on the floor simply unscrew the pipe from the flange. I'm going to make a larger one with more casters also. I figure with enough casters it can extend beyond the bench and not teeter.
What do you think.
