I received the FT2000 yesterday and started stripping it down prior to attaching to the insert plate. I was down to the point of removing the springs and of course the manual doesn't tell you any thing so i removed the pins at the base and tube connection points the first did nothing ,(side without adjuster) the other side released and BINGO!!!!! parts went everywhere. When i regained my composure and finished up with my "aw shits". I realized or think this is so , the pin on the adjuster side is all that holds everything together in reference to plunge mechanism, adjuster and router base. The parts blow up once again did not even show the pins. My question is was that your finding as well or did I miss something or maybe something flew across the shop that I didnt find.

Did you also remove the rotating depth stop ?

Uhhh, That's NOT how to take it apart!

If you pop the cap on the depth knob and unscrew it far enough it'll come off the threaded shaft. The router will pull apart (keeping the posts attached to the base) and the springs, boots, and guides can be removed. When you replace the knob only use one of the two nuts and leave out the O-ring.

Put the pins back.

BTW, to get hold of me, post over on my forums.
