Greetings!

This is my first post and I'm looking for suggestions on a oil finish. I did a lot of research and can't decide between Tung, linseed, or danish oil.

I'll be applying it to a martial arts dummy which is made of oak. It has a 9" round body, and 3 12" "limbs". It will be handled quite a bit so I want something that won't get sticky. I have a marine varnish on another one and hate the feel. Again, this is a training tool, so it doesn't have to look like a piece of furniture! It just needs to seal and protect the wood from drying out.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Try a clear penitrating oil.

What type of oil would that be ... mineral?

No Chris, It's a type of oil stain such as Danish is called Danish. Mineral oil can be used to protect also. Used on cutting boards a lot. Do not know if it would be good in the application though. Check with any of your local hardware type stores. I use Hardware Hank. They sell a clear penitrating oil that I have had good luck with.
