I'm about to make a table and chair set for my 2 year old, and I would like very much to use solid wood in the entire project, in order to acomplish this, and without the "so much needed" biscuit joiner, I decided to join up 3/4 pine stock with 1/4 dowels instead, but I'm looking for a homemade jig that would make this process as accurate and painless as possible, any ideas?

ThanX

Ziggy.

You might try www.rockler.com. They are a supply house and might have the tool kits needed.

The tool I got several years ago was from
General Hardware Mfg. Co. Inc. in New york, NY
stock # 840. Also got the metal fluting blocks so you can make your own fluted dowels from 36" dowels and save money.
Also get the duplicating centers for perfect alignments. They fit into the first holes you drill and matchup the holes into the adjoining piece.

I do not know how to make a shop made jig for this. You might consider making a slot in the edge of the boards with a table saw and using a spline as a joint. You could hide such a joint by raising your blade into the work or setting your work into the blade. Follow all safety precautions!!
