I'll bet Marilyn has a lot of turning wood on her farm. Yea I said farm, shes probably got some at her Summer Place too. She could haul it home in her Corvette. We might even get some of that Colorado wood from one of her ski trips as well. See all the things she is depriving us of. I would pay the freight on my piece if she ever got energetic and cut some up for her buddies.
I Wonder what kind of trees they have in Missouri? I guess of course you must qualify to be on her buddie list, wonder what that will take?
She already said she wants my money but I got her fooled, I ain't got any ........hahaha

Dick,
last time I was in Missouri I didn't see any trees. but then I have not seen many in Texas. Around Austin I saw some short bushes that the locals called trees....

They ain't got no grades needer in Texas. :)
But I'd bet some great stuff is right under Dick's nose. Masqueet, and masquieet bases. I may not know how to spell it but it's that same stuff they make charcoal from, and add for smokie flavor to the bar-b-que. :o

The lower 1/2 of Missouri is covered in deciduous and coniferous forest. Our farm (small I am sure by Texan standards but then again it doesn't take 200 acres to support one cow/calf pair) of 245 acres has approx. 160 acres of walnut, oak, hickory and cherry lumber, with a number of acres that have not been cut since the middle 1800's. There is also an old barn and house with handhewn timbers that John has said I can use whenever I want to. The key is getting down there. It is about 60 miles from our house. The Vette does not like to get its paws in gravel so it would not go with us. We would take the old F150 along for that journey. Sometime I would like to have someone take a few trees out for me, there is a saw mill about 15 miles away and my wood contact up in Middletown would kiln it for me. It's just finding time to get it all put together!!

See what I been telling you about having all the money, now we find out she's also got a gold mine..I think I'll just go to Mo. this weekend and whip her (zzzzz) and John's too for being part of it.
60 miles!!!!!!Hell I,m going to drive 404 miles this weekend to just fish for one day and that wood is a lot more desirable than those Speckled Trout.
Do you think there is much spalted wood laying around on that 245 acres that needs some attention? You once said wouldn't it be nice if we could all meet somewhere someday? I think I see the makings of a party coming on ,how long will it take you to make all the arrangements...what a picnic!!!!I AM NOT JOKING!!!!

Standing trees are TIMBER, not lumber.
It ain't LUMBER till the mills through with it.
We'll get you egikated yet. No matter how long it takes. Good grief, talking like that anybody'd think you was a blond female. (DUCK!) :)
Move over Lou, I'm coming back to the toilet. :P

Why do they call them Lumberjacks (and I'm alright I work all day etc...) if they cut down trees shouldn't they be Timberjacks.
Why do they have Timbermerchants when according to Sonny they sell lumber.
Why do they say "Shiver me timbers" when they should say shiver me lumbers.!?
Daddy WHHYY?
I'm going to lumber off in to the dawn before I'm lumbered with more questions to fathom in my mind, hoping that smart ass comments won't get me into deep lumber with the rest of you Bunnies.
Sleepy Limey needing lumbar support.

Beats me, he said admiring a stand of tall timber on the hillside. (Not tall LUMBER on the hillside)
Maybe without a lumberjack to start the process of harvesting, no lumber would be found.
Where the transition comes in (6", 8", ?) I'm not sure. But when I was working in the mining industry in Wildoming, we had 8 x 8 timbers for framing the sets in the drift. Not 8 x 8 lumbers. Not beams (although occasionally a jug of Jim Beam might be passed around :+ ).
Hope you had a nice slumber,
As you rested your lumbar,
Amidst all this blunder,
Sorting timber from lumber. :7
Let's get cracking!

Sonny,
If it's MY wood can't I call it whatever I want? (I wonder how many board feet of LUMBER in a piece of TIMBER (ie a tree by any other name would saw as sweet) 8' or so in circumference and approx 60-70' tall?

Marilyn: Didn't know you had that kind of assets, Dick might have competition. With all that standing lumber, timber or whatever you want to call it since you own it ,I bet there could be a lot of woodworkers wanting to get close to that and a nurse to boot what else could one ask for . Of course I am speaking about others since my hot tempered cezch wife would do things to me that would require an emergency room visit if I were to stray. You need to get that lathe up and running before Sonny gets too far ahead. Have fun
