I hope you guys don't mind me posting here once, I'm a wood tech student in Aust. We have to investigate the "6 steps in preparing timber for the lathe", a dozen safety rules and name/explain the uses of "6 chisels used in turning", also which one to use first.

Any personnel experience/url's would be greatly appreciated. I have spent ages at the hardware stores and net looking for these answers.

Most of those questions have been answered in other threads. Check around within this section of the forum and you will find them all. I don't know exactly where the 6 methods to prepare for a lathe came from. I can mount wood in as little as 2 steps to as many as 5 or 6 depending on how I mount it and for what reason.

Best Regards,

Bill

When I hear the term 6 steps I think of the 6 steps that are used to prepare wood for working. Truing it from rought lumber to a flat, straight board.
