Springtime here is pretty busy, as Sonny says I have this tendency for "distraction"... the dirt is still piled up near the creek as we have seemingly entered the monsoon season here lately. But plants keep following me home from the garden center, wanting to join in the crowd already here. Between work, sewing on the grandbaby-to-be's quilt and the outside work/fun the shop is gathering dust right now. But my dad wants me to build a fish cleaning table for him to put on our dock so that gives me a good excuse to get down there again. I bought some redwood boards but that is all the further I have gotten. Sigh, it seems that either you have no money but time to do stuff or money but no time. I am in the latter group, looking at all my nice toys but no time right now to play with them. :(

Now are trying to tell us you don't have any Money???

If you were to sell that big metal lathe..............you could get enough for a new wood lathe and some more woodworking tools.
Sonny is still waiting to see you turnings...........

Know what you mean Marilyn. Spent 11 hours on the John Deere in the last two days putting the "garden" in! (If 1/4 acre can be called a garden) I had to knock down a small hill, and move it too the low area. But it's done now. nice and smooth. Also planted several more trees. Now maybe I can get a little fishing in. Sweet Corn won't be ready until August! Then I get to pich all those ears so the wife and kids can sell it! To day I get to plant 42 Tomatoe plants, 4 rows of beans and get the summer squash in! Ah yes, spring............

We already have had cucumbers, green peppers, green beans and cherry tomatoes. The regular tomatoes are starting to turn, potatoes have blossomed, sweetcorn is eared out and filling and okra is making little ones................I quit farming, my wife does it all for therapy( getting away from me), she does all of the above in a 4' x 16' plot.

She will plant second garden in late August.

Dick,

When we lived in Texas we already had veggies ect to eat. Up here, well it's a little cooler than that right now! Water temp on the lake was 49 on Tue when I was fishing. Might be up to 52 or so by now though...............

Speaking of tomatoes and gardens (we were weren't we??)
When I first got married I decided to plant tomatoes for the two of us to eat. Knowing nothing about them, I figured 1 tomato per plant, right? So I planted 200 plants (5 tomatoes per jar, approx. 40 jars of tomatoes...) Needless to say I couldn't even begin to keep up with picking the darn things, let alone canning any. They were planted on old cowpasture and grew until they were a solid mass of greenery. Not one of my finer moments.:D

I can only dream of gardening right now.
I live at the northeastern tip of Lake Ontario. Only 3/4 of the trees have leaves yet. Our last frost date isn't for a couple more weeks. They're even talking about snow this Sunday. I try and get a small garden in wherever I'm stationed but since I'm to PCS (permanent change of station) to Monterey, CA on 1 September, I won't have a garden here in beautiful Fort Drum.

When little Jordan was 2, she and Grandma Betty had this bag of wildflower seeds.
They decided to plant them in a 1' x 25' flower bed.
Grandpa Sonny came home and Jordan and Grandma told him of the days adventure.
Sounded like they had fun.
Grandpa happened to read the box the seed came in and saw it was enough to plant 2500 square feet.
So I recon there's enough seed in that 25 square foot bed to last till about, oh, maybe the year 3000 or so.
Just scratch the soil once a year to bring a new crop up. :) LMAO

I talked Laura into going with half as many plants this year. We always end up with more than we can get rid of come late September! Now I can get a run of Asparagas in!

Wish we would get some of that rain up this way. I planted 10000 square feet of "Deer" mix for our friends that live out back (got about 8 of them that feed out back at night). Haven't had a drop in several days. Would be nice to get it growing now. The DNR told me to cut it several times this year, then let it go after that. Do not know why, but they are the "experts"!

Hope you get dry sooooooooooooooon!
