Kitchen Cabinets

I'm installing new cherry cabinets in my kitchen and was wondering if I should purchase special screws to attach the face frames of my cabinets. I am also installing crown molding on top of the cabinets and need to use some blocking, is there a particular wood and size I should be using?

The two best methods of attaching the face frame would be biscuits or pocket screws from the inside of the cabinet. If the cabinets are already built it might be hard to put in pockets but not impossible.

As for the blocking you could use any wood. Since it is not seen you just need something that is the right size.
