I posted some of my scroll saw clocks here to show you what I do while I am waiting to buy my lathe this spring... Jeff asked about a WoodTurner Clock...
This is a first draft of the pattern... the clock face would be 2" dia. Piece would be approx 8" long x 6" high
As I said this is a first draft.. was just wondering what you guys think of this...

Why is Darth Varda not supporting his hollowing tool on a toolrest...
Smartass Limey
seriously the facemask is a bit obtrusive but not being a scroller and even less a designer I don't know what the limitations are.

Looks great! Limey's questions are on the mark, but even as a first draft I think it's fantastic!

Ok so I guess the consensus of opinion is to lose the face mask (even though all the books say to wear one..)... and you sissy bowl turners want a rest under the tool....
I think that can be done....
Stay tuned for the next part of our continuing saga...

MMMMMMMMM Price for one of my custom designed personal Wood Turner Clocks... not available anywhere else in the world but from me..... MMMMMMMMMMMMM
Let me think...
New 1HP 14" lathe = $$$$
Set of HSS bowl turning tools = $$
OneWay Chuck = $$
Additional stuff = $$
Finishing supplies = $
Add it all together and I need $$$$$$$$$$ to get started in wood turning the right way..
I have no idea yet... I want to really firm up the pattern so it is cuttable by any scroller, and I have to check on the price of 2" clock inserts...
But I can assure you it will be a lot more reasonable than a new lathe... :) :)

NOOO.... don't take the face mask off mine...
that way nobody will recognize me...
It is fine as is for me. I have some 2" clocks,
so all you need to ship is the plaque.
?? $ ??

Wow it's Burt Reynolds !!
That must have cost you plenty to get him to pose...
Don't mind me Grizz Sonny is the a$$hole of the forum I'm the Dangle Berry...:) :) :7
Yep I like that one a whole lot better...
Don't know if you've seen it but theres a t shirt in the Packards catalogue depicting a skeleton at a lathe with the caption "I'll be turning in my grave".
That would also make a cool clock if they let you use it.
Cheers Limester

Here is what will most likely be the final draft (the face mask is still an option for those who might want it), you will note that he is not free hand turning anymore ;)...
I will not know exactly until I get around to cutting at least one of them and see if there are any more changes that need to be made...
Mark wanted a pattern with his name on it... so I put Wood Mangler on this one so that he could see it...
This is not one of the easiest patterns to cut, but not all that hard from what I can see...
Until I cut one and see how long it takes, I won't have a price... I also need to see what 2" inserts are going for...
There are real good ones and real cheap ones.. and I don't like to buy the cheap ones... I usually go somewhere in the middle of the road..
