Hi Jerry,

I have a Stanley #4 with a broken/cracked tote...what glue would you recommend to mend it?

If the break/crack can be squeezed completely closed, I would use CA. Otherwise I would go with some epoxy with maybe some wood flour mixed in. Overfill the void, let it cure, then sand it smooth.

I've got a handle in a similar state. How do you clamp that odd angle?

Thanks Jerry...this one is probably a candidate for CA...and maybe a sprinkle of sawdust on the outer most part :).

Well, if you use CA, you can hold it with your hand for a minute or two. Otherwise, just got get creative. Those quick clamps with the large rubber pads work in a lot of situations and don't damage the wood.

Yep, done that on some stuff, too.

It's rosewood, right?

Then make sure you wipe the faying surfaces down with acetone or trichloroethylene, first, to cut the oil.

And if you use sawdust in epoxy, make sure it's the powdered stuff from your sander bag....a much, much better choice is West or other brand of high-adhesive thickener. Comes with walnut dye, too.
