Those are nice. Bet my wife would like something like that. What, if anything, did you use for a finish?

Thanks! I only did 3-4 coats of 50/50 poly and mineral spirits. I really liked the texture of the wood and didn't want to have it gloss all up on me but did want some protection as they were to be used in the kitchen. Her mom loved 'em so much they ended up on display in her china cabinet instead! :P

I don't remember if I posted these a few months ago or not, so here they are :)
LOML asked for a b-day present for her mom in february. They were shipped around April :P
She'd seen some cheapy canisters on some site awhile back and asked if I could make 'em out of some mahogany she picked out at our local annual lumber yard BBQ. Well it was an exercize in beveling miters and keeping things square. Two of them have almost perfect miters, the third is just a hair open on the inside (no pics for evidence, of course! :+ )
Anyway, here they are :)
