I took the design from a camera phone quality pic I found online. Using treated pine for the posts and cedar for the rest (main vert. pieces were 5/4 deckboard - cheaper than 1x6 - wierd)

Ends up the being around $11-15/foot all told (this section obviously more expensive with gate hardware, more sections...). Those post caps dont help that cost either. They were $8/each (there's an idea for making some extra cash - just some fancy jigs and bits is all thats needed...hmmm.)

Now only 160 more feet to go :o

Hindsight says I should have put the first post right at the corner instead of overlapping the house wall. Little more windproof this way I guess.

You gotta post the pics here, please. I just won't be the first one to click on a link, if you know what I mean. Please post the pic(s) here.

Looks good so far, are your next panels going to b longer? I realize those are narrow due to the gate and it's location.

That's looking real nice Phil. So, if that is a 3 foot gate, then you have about 9 feet done and 160 feet left to go???? Wow, you are going to be busy!

I think I would have started the first post right next to the side of the house just because that's how I have always done fences, but, I think what you did looks real good. That just might be a nicer way to do it.

Please show us pics when you get the rest of it done, you poor SOB! Better you than me! :7

Sorry - new gallery software wasn't giving me a usable link.

Yeah - once I get to the wide open stretches I think the design will support 8ft sections easily...maybe 4ft will look better though?

That end post bugs me too - one of those things when you cross to point of no return you wonder what you were thinking :+
