I am looking to build my own bar for my room and I wass looking for some specs and maybe some suggestions from people who have done it before. As you may have been able to tell from my e-mail adress, I am a college student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and I have a good amount of woodworking experience, however I would like some spec to follow or improve upon. I just need a general idea of average height/width and shelving underneath.
I would greatly appreciate any plans you have or you can direct me too.
Thanks
Kurt

Just go to an amusement room store that sells bars, pool tables, etc. Take a tape measure with you and take the basic measurements you will need for a bar you like. They will have bar stools so you can get the standard bar stool and bar heights. Just tell them that you need to measure everything to make sure it will fit in your particular space or down your basement stairs. Be sure to make a shelf for mixing drinks on the inside of the bar that is about 10 inches below the bar top level. make room for a small dormitory style refrigerator, and be sure to wire it for outlets and a under counter light.

Van Dyke's Restorers carry a line of great "bar" hardware, as does I believe Woodcraft.
