My wife feels the same way. She couldn't understand that it took as much time to finish her cherry computer desk or the new stair treads as it did to make them in the first place.
I tell everyone that when it's "built" you are 50% done. I also tell them if you don't like finishing, you won't like woodworking. Unless you paint, of course!!! :D
