What other things in your life do you have complete control over? Starting with knowledge, the learning process, setting goals on how far you want to go in a woodworking hobby/career. And the projects we choose, from a sketching,a flash of a thought on a napkin, to a working drawing on graph paper, material list, cutting list. The trip to the lumberyard to hand pick your material and so on.

In the shop all the decision making is yours (good or bad) we learn, we progress and we grow in the shop.
Maybe thats the lure of woodworking the process, the plan, the experience and finally the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment.

What a wonderful "lifestyle" we woodworkers have.

Second thought,
I have a basement shop, does anyone else who works in the basement sometimes feel like grampa on the Munsters? No matter what grampa was always in the basement, if you needed him just stomp on the floor, right. But instead I come up in a cloud of sawdust and curly plane shavings!

Have a great day,
Matt,from P.a.

yes i know exactly what you mean.my shop is in the basement and everybody knows that when i go downstairs i gonna be there for a while and i'm not amswering anything unless an emergency.as far as the dust on me after moving my a/c downstairs i can blow that stuff off first which the wife has come to appreciate this.would like a shop on ground level with a big overhead sliding door but at least mine is heat and cooled for free.gotta enjoy that when it is 110 outside.it is a little dark am putting more lighting.but it's mine and it's paid for. jack
