Finally......
Managed to get the laptop set up and should be free of interuptions to post a heartfelt thankyou to everyone on the forum who has carried me through a week of intense pain and anguish.... you cannot believe the intense lift that your thoughts and messages have given me.
Thank you is totally inadequate.
I truly feel humble and undeserving of all your attention.
My first experience of a totally alien Health Care System and a rapid learning curve in differentiating between "OPTIONS" based on medical decision making based on Insurance coverage, Protection from possible malpractice law suits, and my belief that the prime intention is to plunder the insurance coverage as aggresively and as quickly as possible.
It's been an interesting exercise in getting past these issues and talking meaningfully with the actual doctor to establish the real options.
My ignorance of the way things normally happen may have helped.... I don't think that the system gets too many challenges in the form of.."lay out the options and I 'll let YOU know what I want to happen"
and no I am sorry I will not sign any form that gives you the right to put me under anaethsetic and radically change treatment plans without my consent.
Final upshot is that everything in the pelvis is stable and that a long and painful operation to pin the pieces together will not speed up the healing process..furthermore traction to keep the hip immobile would lengthen the total process as it would require an additional 6-8 weeks to build up all the muscles that would have wasted away through inactivity.
The big downside is that any stupidity on my part will disturb the unstable socket and put me back to "square one". That's when it got interesting and really got me into lobbying the physiotherapist to counsel on my behalf and agree with me that the very thought of traction would be sufficient motivation to heed to the letter the regimen of things I wouldn't attempt.
In essence I think the Doctor agreed cause he gets the business and the follow up whatever happens. The physiotherapist gets a motivated customer which makes his task easier. The actual nursing staff breath a sigh of relief that they don't have to deal with my non compliant behaviour.. and the only section pissed is the administrative bureau crats who haven,t maximized my earning potential because I refused their kind offer to continue my care in the on site rehabilitation unit.

But having said all that don't think I'm abnormal.. decisions on these issues are precisely the same as any other.. gather information..ask questions and then get what you need not neccesarily what someone wants you to have... bit like buying your first tablesaw....LOL.

Won't bore you any longer and again thank you all once again I was overwhemed by your collective and individual reponse

Limey,

Welcome back!!! Our prayers are with you as you continue your recovery. Gotta go and pick up the granddaughter, then go into the doctor to get the paperwork that will finalize my disability. Hope to have a card off to you tonight, between packing and completing my final woodworking project in the old shop.

Again, blessings on your recovery.

Limey,

I am so glad to have you plugged in again. I know that they probably didn't have enough carbon in the food you had in the hospital. Now you will be free to consume all the carbon the toaster can gernerate.

Jut take it easy. They will be happy to take you back and get all the money..

Being lazy and fooling with the Nurse Police and rapidly hobbeling up stairs to avoid being caught are we?
While everybody waits on your acking butt to get on the ball, plug in a lap top (boy is that ever hard to do!), and get around to FINALLY posting.
If your bottom wasn't already in a sling, I'd fly out to Stam_yourtown and soundly spank your bum!

I knew damn good and well you'd handle them your way. And you did!
Welcome back and Welcome Home!
I want to see a hell of a lot of posting from you fellow, it is the assurance your resting, somewhat, so them helper critters can mend that cracked pot of yours.
I belive you need to get a Murcury and cruise it around the kitchen table making some pens, Govenor.
Or something on a level playing field. (Or cricket or squash or polo field, I'm trying desparately to get the point acrossed to NOT try those basement stairs for a while. :) )
It will take a bit of time to mend, you know. So easy does it.
You, of course, are the best judge of how your arse is doing, but give it as much time as yee can stand. That is, before you go standing at the Nova DVR again. (Shoot, that's probabababably where you plugged in your damned laptop compooter, knowing your plucky Brit butt!)
Chit if I can hold your hand. Stand on your own, however you can.
If you got my letter there at hospital, remember it is sincere. If you didn't, I can email a copy to you now.
That is, if you check your email and can eat your meat as you should.

If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding?
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? (Pink Floyd, "The Wall")
Maybe Holly can explain. (Sonny said with a twinkel in his eye. Here's a visual for you Limey: :P )

DAMN glad to hear from you Brother
Things are marching forth here. FYI. The shop is CLOSED. Soon to reopen in a new location.
(Because, hell, all the major parts are packed and tyed down in a trailer in the driveway. About 2/3rds of the/this rats nest.) One of my Bro's dropped off his inclosed toy trailer Saturday afternoon. :)
Sunday found 4 of us moving in the heavies from the shop to the trailer. Now don't go fussin'! The friggin wheels are chained and locked together, Plus the video is on, so if any YaHoo's do happen to come around, it will be the last load for them. Heh, Heh.
Besides, there's just too many locks to deal with. So you get to healing your arse up, Ya Limpin' Limey.

Sure good to hear from you! Now go eat your meat so's you can have some pudding. :7
No damned sympathy here, Bud. You're tough, not a dought in my mind.
Welcome Home! :7

Welcome back Limester, we been missin you.

So you got yourself a taste of for profit medicine? A little different than the govment stuff in the old country. Glad to hear you were able to fight off the folks lookin to take your insurance company to the cleaners. I have long wondered about how many services being provided in the medical community are based upon level of coverage by insurance.

Anyway, we are now depending upon you to render much needed advice in the area of turning, so stay by that laptop and keep them typing fingers flexible and ready to fire away.

"I don't think that the system gets too many challenges in the form of.."lay out the options and I 'll let YOU know what I want to happen"
It sure doesn't, to many people just turn their bodies over without even considering what might be best for them. "Doctor knows best." But it's called "medical advice" for a reason. Good for you for making yourself the decision maker.
On the ball as always, one of the reasons we've missed you. Welcome back!

Welcome back Limey. I haven't been around much lately myself. Yet I've kept tabs on your absence. I hate hospitals myself. The last time I was in they couldn't wait for me to leave. I think I had Nurse Crabtree in there. Mmmmm and that food..... oh yum.

Welcome Home,
Tony
