Hurray, I got my password! I feel like I just got accepted to an exclusive country club, although I'm too hick for that to ever happen.
FYI, I'm married with 3 kids, 51 years old and have held a day job working in the oil patch for 30 years.
I decided I was tired of having a mortgage, so I purchased 4 acres near Tyler, TX about 6 years ago and built an 1800 sq ft home on it. My wife and I did everything except pour the slab foundation, install the air conditioning and carpet. It's not a mansion, but it's ours and we are proud of it.
I've always liked making stuff, and got into woodworking as an extension of the house building. Bought a Craftsman contractor saw from my boss and started accumulating more tools, one at a time. I didn't have much of a clue what I was doing, but I did enjoy it. I watched a lot of Norm. Really got an education when building my kitchen cabinets.
I'm currently in the midst of finishing a 20' x 30' workshop and have gotten tons of useful info from this forum on wiring, lighting, tool placement, etc. Thanks to everyone for the vicarious advice.
I am priviledged to be a part of this forum and look forward to soaking up lots more knowledge and improving my minimal woodworking skills. Maybe someday I'll even be able to contribute meaningfully to the discussions.
