Well, I guess I joined the forum two years ago today.
At that time I was one month shy of closing on a new house. That house would have a basement and my first wood shop. I registered for the forum after months of lurking. I was anticipating many hours of fun in my shop and thought there could be no better place to get help than here.
Two days before closing I was laid off from work (I closed on the house anyway - shhh). I spent the next two months living off of savings while looking for a job. Then I spent several months putting the savings back. That cut into a lot of woodworking time.
Then I began finishing the basement. Doing that on nights and weekends with almost no help has taken over a year, but I'm very very close to done. I've got about two weekends of work of my own, then I need the carpet people to come. Finally, I'll get to actually spend time in the shop for me instead of for finishing the basement.
In the last two years I have gotten help, advice, and suggestions from many of you here. Without that I would have spent more money, more time, and not done as good a job as I have. Thanks to all of you for the attention you've given my questions. I've definately gotten more out of the forum that I've put back, but I try.
Finally, a picture of your latest work. The risers are 3/4" ply. They are going to be covered with vinyl tile that matches the floor at the bottom of the stairs. The treads are southern yellow pine (they started out as 2x8's). They are going to get covered with carpet that matches the rest in the basement. They aren't perfect, but I'm proud of what I've done.

Thanks again for all of your help,
Matt
