I recently went through this decision myself. Did LOTS of reading and checking on web sites/discussion groups. Although I can't give you a list of sources - didn't write them down, the results I got were:

1) Jet and Delta are both very good machines that everyone liked. Both were also the most expensive. Jet was given the slight nod b/c Delta (only recently) customer service has been very poor relative to Jet. Jet's CS is very good. Delta currently was bought out or bought out (can't remember which) some other tool company and the CS has been very poor since that time. That's according to Woodcraft who sells both.

2) Grizzly sells a very good tool - not as good as delta or Jet, but everyone who talked about them in the forums was very happy w/ it and it's considerably cheaper. Through my research, also found out that Grizzly drill presses are also very good, and a lot cheaper, but their band saws are a waste of money. Dust collectors and table saws was mixed...noone was completely disatified w/ them, but no real raving reviews either...

Anyway, I ended up purchasing the Grizzly - and I JUST did this, so don't have it yet and can't tell you if I like it or not. :)
I do like the drill press I got from them though...nice machine.

Hope that helps. (One of the wood magazines had a review of jointers - and I don't remember which - but basically said that Jet, Bridgewood, Grizzly and Powernuematic (??) all are basically the same jointer - made in Taiwan - and the differences are the bells and whistles they put on the machines, and the service the company provides w/ them. But all are basically the same. Delta was the only one that really stood out as a different product. If you can find that review they did a very good job of describing the differences...and their conclusions were very similar to mine - all good machines the B&W's are nice, but may not be worth the additional $200 you'd pay for them. Delta and Jet came out as best machines, Grizzly came out as the best deal for a good machine.)

Again hope that helps.
