View Full Version : Noise and vibration on benchtop table saws?
I am considering getting a craftsman limited edition direct drive benchtop table saw with a stand. My question is: how much will this thing vibrate, will it make my cuts hard to make? Also how noisy are these thing, am I going to have to use ear protection?
I am looking for replys from someone who owns a benchtop table saw or has had experience with one.

I don't have a Sears saw but the saw I have does make a LOT of noise due to the direct drive system. I recommend ear muffs with at least a noise reduction value of -26dB and you should consider wearing ear plugs with the muffs.
It does vibrate. The vibration has not affected my cuts but I think that is mostly from having used the saw so much that I am used to it. I've never used a belt driven saw (sigh) but I do know (from watching people use theirs)that they vibrate very little.
If you are not tight for room in your shop or you are not in a hurry why don't you wait and save to buy a better saw. I think you'll be happier.
