I just purchased a Hitachi 10" compound miter saw (C10FCE2) and it has an aluminum base. What is the best way to care for this aluminum base? Butchers Wax? WD-40 now and then?
Thanks!

I'd like to replace a damaged power cord on a 14" Delta band saw, but it's not as straightforward as I had hoped.

This is a plain-vanilla home workshop set up - 110V, single phase 1/2 HP capacitor start, Delta motor #62-142. Delta saw #28-245.

When I take the cover plate off, I can see several wires of various colors attached to some screw terminals - however none of those are directly from my power cord. I do see my switch cord attached to two of the terminals, but the power cord runs BEHIND the terminal plate, deeper into the motor, and I can't see where or how the power cord terminates.

What's my next step? Do I need to take the motor apart - that is, remove the flat ends with the shaft bearings just to replace the power cord? Or should I try to remove the terminal plate?
