Mortising
Hello and thanks in advance. I have a combination saw, which has a planer, jointer and mortiser all using the same motor (to the best of my knowledge i cannot reverse this motor). I have just recently tried to use the mortiser and found that it spins in the opposite direction of a normal drill bit. Is this common, if so where can I find an bass ackwards mortising bit. Any comments and/or websites would be a lot of help.
Thanks again

RE: Mortising
Spiral mortise bits come with two different patterens. You would want a down cut bit. Any of the on line suppliers in the Wood Links area should have these. The best brand by Fine Woodworking Mag Test is Whiteside.

RE: Mortising
The bit I believe you are talking about is a standard mortising bit. It comes down through the center of a square chisel. The bit is a standard auger bit. No one I know makes a reverse cutting auger. There must be a way of reversing you machine.
