    Mid-Sized Bandsaws

    Hi Gents,

I've read lots of good and helpful information in this forum about mid-sized bandsaws (14"). I have a specific question I'd like to ask, since I have not seen it addressed in the previous postings.

Lots of folks have posted that they are very happy with the Grizzly G0555 14" saw. The price is attractive, it looks like a great saw from a feature perspective. However, Delta has come out with their X5 bandsaw (28-475X), and it is in a totally different (almost double!) price range.

My question is this: What do the added features in the Delta saw (1-1/2 HP Motor, Enclosed Cabinet, QR Blade Tensioner, Larger Table) really buy you in terms of day to day use, and longevity of the tool? I expect to use it for general-purpose bandsawd tasks, as well as a fair amount of resawing.

Thanks in advance for the comments.

    RE: Mid-Sized Bandsaws

Larger motor = more resaw capability. If your into turning this is prollya real helpful thing

Larger table, Hmmmm.... Not sure. Seems like it be a real nice thing to have though.

Enclosed base. I'd say dust control (like for cabinet TS's)

Blade tensioner. I've never used one of those - just hte ol screw tensioner. Some on this forum don't like the tensioners as blade width determins tension - if your changeing blades it common for a width change for say tighter curvers, htis would require you to change the tension. They might have figured a way to get this done - not too sure. If so I'd be a nice change.
