RE: ShortCuts
Its one thing to reply to Shortcuts' posts, (I doubt he even looks at the replies) but ya really dont wanna click the links he posts in here. Im sure he looks at his webpage stats and see's that he has drawn traffic from this forum and will continue to pull this junk.
If you really have to see his pages, copy the link he posts here and paste it into a new browser window. At least then his webpage stats wont show any traffic coming for this forum.

RE: ShortCuts
In fact, I do look at the responses and respond to some. Web stats are not all that important to me, but yes, it's nice to see where the viewers come from (countries around the world).
You may note that there is no advertising (except to announce the woodshow dates)on my web pages.
Regarding the tool ratings, manufacturers send me the tools to test and review, if the tools register below 4 stars I will advise them and will not publish the results. There are enough people out there bad-mouthing tools, manufacturers and dealers, we don't need any more.

RE: ShortCuts
Maybe I am missing something. To me a tool review is just that - a review. It is one persons opinion on how something works or entertains or whatever. If you think it is great then wonderful. If you think the product needs improvement then SAY SO! Don't hide it in the closet and never tell anyone. How is the manufacturer supposed to improve upon the tool if they do not get feedback. How are consumers supposed to know what is good or bad if all that is ever posted is good.
I agree that there does not need to be any tool bashing, but constructive critasism and feedback are not bashing.
I also never trusts sites that only have glowing reviews. Something at some point has to be bad or at least ok. Since most sites get the tools for free of couse it is in their best interest to give good reviews. Good reviews = more free stuff.

RE: ShortCuts
Graham,
Ah, so you do exsist. It's nice to see we have gotten your attention. I for one would like to invite you to JOIN these forums.
I'm new to cabinet making as are a lot of others here. If you have the time and would like to contribute it would be nice to see instead of just your weekly post to visit your web site.
Do you get it? I'm quite sure you do. We discuss woodworking here. You CAN join in.

RE: ShortCuts
Well said Howard,
I, for one and I suspect a whole bunch of others, would not be suspicious of motives if just one question of a specific nature had been answered from previous postings.
To reiterate...this is a live forum and participation in a discussion, whilst not mandatory,is strongly encouraged.

RE: ShortCuts
Interaction IS key here.
So far shortcuts has had a one way conversation with us.
Hey all you guys look at MY reviews. I don't want to actually be a part of this group, but I want you all to look at MY reviews.
Shortcut -- sorry if this all sounds a little cynical, and negative, but this IS an interactive group.
This IS a special group. We are all friends here. You are welcome to join us. We would love to converse with you - two way. Back and forth. In THIS forum. But we really don't like the one way stuff, and having to go to your website to converse with you.
