Ok, my tax return e-file has been sent and we will get back more than expected. I will be getting a new bandsaw. I am looking at the Grizzly GO555 and the 14" Rikon at Woodcraft. I know the Grizzly reputation, but am a little shy about the Rikon because it seems to be fairly new to the market. I know this question has been beaten to death, but I AM CONFUSED by all of the decisions!!! To confuse things even more, I will be looking for a lathe in April(bonus time at work) I will be looking to spend about $500, so my head spinning is not near its end.
The largest consideration to me in selecting a bandsaw is the wheels. I have no problem spending extra dollars for cast iron over cast aluminum. There simply is a big difference.
Everywhere I have read have ranked the Rikon bandsaws as top values. No big negative issues.
I completely concur with the solid wood door particularly when it has a excellent end and also top quality variety. It's a traditional and definately will match up virtually all types of equipment....

I just purchased a Hitachi 10" compound miter saw (C10FCE2) and it has an aluminum base. What is the best way to care for this aluminum base? Butchers Wax? WD-40 now and then?
