Material for outdoor project
I'm planning a paint grade outdoor arbor. A book I have on the subject recommends Eastern White Pine for painted projects since it's cheaper than typical outdoor woods and paints well. He used 5/4 and 4/4 material. He made the posts from 4/4 material using a hollow post method.
Do you agree with the wood choice? None of it will contact the ground. I'll be painting it with a premium exterior house primer/paint.
Thanks

RE: Material for outdoor project
That should work fine for that application. Do be sure to shellac over any knots before you paint... if you DON'T, you'll be SORRY... :(
