Lumber Liquidators - Revisited
I found a few posts from a couple of years back, but I was wondering if any of you had recent experience with this chain. I know they carry flooring, but do they carry lumber for other WW uses? Do they carry rough lumber?
Sawduster, you mentioned that you had gone to the store in Austin. Is that the one on Ben White just off I-35? Have you been there recently?
Thanks,
Pete

as far as I know they just sell flooring. Least the one in Pittsburg does. Try woodfinder.com if you are looking for lumber.

RE: Lumber Liquidators - Revisited
Pete, if you're looking for lumber in Austin, Fine Lumber and Plywood is your best bet. They're off Rundberg and I-35. They have superb stock and a wide selection and competitive prices. I've been to Hogan hardwoods down off Ben White too, but they're geared toward the business. It's kind of a pain to buy from them, they babysit you in the warehouse and it's not setup to grab stock off the shelves. The prices were comparable to Fine Lumber.
Good luck,
Tim

They used to sell what they called a woodworking lumber pack which was about 300bf of misc. boards for $99 if I remember correctly. You'd have to deal with checks and nail holes but the price was right.
My understanding is that it was the wood from the pallets that they received shipments on -- when you ship brazilian cherry you don't bother finding other cheaper wood you just use the same thing for the shipping materials for instance.
Anyway, I don't know if they still sell it. I haven't seen it on their web site but haven't gone to any of the stores to check either.

I made it by the store on Ben White, but they had closed the store and were moving everything to the location on I-35 north of 187. Guess I’ll have to wait ‘til the next trip in to check it out. I appreciate the replies.
Tim, I’ll check out your suggestion of Austin Fine Lumber. Thanks for the head’s up!
