My friend inherited an old Hammacher Schlemmer wood working bench made in New York in the 1920s. Is this an item that is worth looking into as a collector's item? It is in good shape and all the moving parts are working. Where can I get more information on the value of this piece?
Try these guys...they have a book on it...[link:www.mjdtools.com/books/reprints.htm|Click Here]

So...if someone asks about a Delta, Grizzly, Jet, Rigid, whatever, we should respond "Ask them, they're still in business"?
Why even reply if that's the best you can come up with?

...let's be nice, Marc.
Glen is one of the good guys and helpful. Just because he didn't hand it to him on a plate isn't cause to be terse.
I appreciate you did go to the trouble of posting it though.
Now get back to wok. :D

I know you can't see me rolling my eyes. But thats what I did when I read your response. I knew, I KNEW someone would take my response out of text, as so much is often lost with the written word.
The manufacturer may be better suited to possibly offer a written appraisal along with a bit of history. Maybe even the manufactures very own intructions on the proper, recommended care.
Bring a lunch next time.

That would have been a better response to the original poster eh? Not sure how I got 7 words "out of (you meant "context" right?)Text, but I'm not the smartest thing on two legs either. It seemed rude, but hey, I'm not the Emily Post of forum land. Sonny says you're one of the good guys...good enough for me...sorry I crabbed at ya...
Marc <---(Grumpy)
Sorry you're grumpy my man. We all have our days, and ya, ya,ya.
Me, I PMS about every 2-3 months, near as I can figure.
Just thought I'd try and smooth the feathers this time.
Lord knows I've ruffled the feathers often enough. :D
At least you're man enough to come back and stand on your own two feet and say you're sorry.
I appreciate that.
Thanks friend!
Be tappin at Ya! :D

Wooden door of great finish and good quality type with two strong bolts will be best for your entry door. Wood lasts long and two bolts well mounted will be most effective.
