window in shop

the on;y source of light in my garag shop is few rows of neons, but durring summer time when nice out it feels so gloomy in there so im thinking window(singular most likley), i wanted to put on on the walll on my worbench , not one that opens just a large picture window, is there any reason not to? would i be better off with a few smaller windows up higher?

Security and heat load are the only issues I can think of. No reason not to have a nice natural light source in the shop.

You might want to concider a sky-light or two.
And the roofers said a curb mount was the best to keep it from leaking. Not the self-flashing kind.
So an $80 sky-light with opaic double insulated went into the livingroom. The 2"x12"x8' kiln dryed spruce I used cost $20 more.
But after I ripped it, and built the frame on my table, and installed it. It's one hellofalotta light for the area. (4' x 2')
We really like it!
You can get the ones that crank open even for more ventalation if desired.
Otherwise, you might want to bear in mind breakage and build it with Lexan.

Sure you can. They have tube skylights that reflect light where you want it. Gee...Maybe I should put some in to spotlight my TS.

Now there Ya go! See, them brain cells are still wiggelin'.
In my case though, I'd still have to open the big door and that would block the tube off. But then the light wouldn't be needed then either, it would come in the big hole where the door goes.

An attic? Kiln dry your wood pile up there till you need it.

Guess your back to pokin' a hole in the wall.
