    saw blades

What creative ways are there to store ones saw blades rather than pile them in a drawer?

I hung a metal letter file with 6 slots on the side of my saw cabinet. Holds a 10" dado set or several saw blades in each slot with the tips fully protected.

I had someone tell me to hang them on a nail/hook/whatever and separate the blades using plastic coffee lids so they don't bang into each other. Seems to work. There is also a little blade holder you can build. I think the plan was in Shopnotes. Dave

I built a box out of 1/2" baltic birch with dividers made from hardboard. The box can hold 4 7" blades and 6 10" blades. The dato set stays in the packaging it came in (Forrest Dato King).

I cut a piece of pegboard the shape of one side of my TS legs. Used machine screws to attach this and then added the pegboard holders. Hang the blades and other TS items.

I built a box for my dado set and will do the same for my 10-inch blades (one to store several) as soon as I get time.
You can see the dado box at the link (I hoipe) below. It's easy and protects everything very well, plus you can build-in room to store nuts, washers or anything else you want to keep with them.

    RE: saw blades

I am right in the middle of building a very similar case from scrap. I decided to build two sections to the case, one for the outside blades and shims, and another section with dados to hold the chippers upright. I had planned to put heavy cardboard between the outside blades, but haven't solved the problem of how to hold the outside blades in place; was thinking of notched dowels in the corners and a thick rubber band between them. What have others done to secure the outside blades?
