Type of wood recomended for miter saw stand fence

I'm looking to build a fence for my miter saw stand and
was wondering what would be the best wood for outdoor use and should i seal it. My stand is made out of square tubing.

I am not sure that the wood is the issue. Any wood will be fine is the miter saw is ok. But the best wood for outdoor use would be Teak followed by Cypress. Both of these would do well without a finish. Oak will also work fine but with oak I would finish all surfaces to prevent warping.

Why would you leave your miter saw out in the weather? If it starts raining while you're working, stop working before you get electrocuted and drag it inside!

I see madmark your not from Oregon, secondly when on a job site and it starts raining, you'd quit and go home, will then it's time for you to find another profession.

I didn't say "go home", I said get out of the rain. You're courting trouble to use any electric power tool in the rain. If it rains that much (and I know it does, I've been to Seattle for both days of summer) then buy yourself one of those easy pitch lawn tents. They come 10x10 or so and are open on all four sides and work under THAT.

No matter if the table is waterproof the SAW isn't! If you're working on a remote job site without cover chances are that your electricity is coming from a genny and THAT means that you don't have GFI protection! Working with a wet saw is a quick way to need CPR.

You would be surprised how little leakage current it takes to kill you. (I think it's 15ma or so at 110VAC) If you have a 5000W generator it'll put out 45A or so, or 3000X what it takes to *KILL YOU*.

I don't care how much they're paying carpenters, risking your life on a job site is stupid! Move inside or get a tent! (Or take out lots of life insurance and make your wife into a rich widow...)

    against the grain

I have a miter box set up similar to what you have. I used plywood, yup ply wood. but I sealed it with fiberglass resin,
13 years later it still serves me...two saws later I might add.
Plywood because of its construction is apt to remain truer just need to seal it.
I think if I had to replace it I would opt for aluminum angle
stock for either side of the saw. It's light and stable and durable.
