    building booths for art shows

My wife's new career is a potter. She does bowls, vases, plates...etc. and wants to start doing art shows and festivals (indoor & outdoor). Does anyone have any tips or stories on building booths to display goods?

Thank you in advance for you advice,

RE: building booths for art shows

Most shows supply a 10'x10' tent for you. Typically they have power available as an option. They may also supply a folding table and chair.

Folding tables with skirting are a good start. Put the skirt on with velcro.

You should build foldable displays for the goods. You know how big/fragile the stuff is so scale your display's accordingly. Be sure that you can knock it down to fit in whatever you're using for transport.

Be sure to include some provision for levelling as most street/park displays are on uneven surfaces.

Select a material and display method that complements your wife's work. If she does modern stuff with lots of colors, then a painted shelf might be in order, perhaps painted by her with patterns similar to those found on her pottery. Conversely simple oak/ash/maple would show off more traditional pottery. Try to use shelving that suggests the final setting. Modern avant garde work needs clean modern displays. 'native' looking stuff would benefit from a more "rustic" setting.

    M,

Thank you for advice. I will share your information with my wife ASAP. I did not even think about the paint style in relation to her pottery style. Very good!

    Thank you again,
