For all to read.................
A recent post that led to a knock down drag out and all were in to deep to withdraw. A few of the combatants need to read these three quotations and then fall back and think for a while.
Dick
The world is a looking-glass,and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face.Frown at it,and it in turn will look sourly upon you: laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly, kind companion.
William Makespeace Thackeray
The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook.
William James
Wisdom is knowing what to do next, virtue is doing it.

RE: For all to read.................
The only problem with disagreements on a forum like this,is you and others take the words too seriously. Most of us know nothing about each other. How can anything said in this forum be so personal? Another saying is,"take what you like and leave the rest."

You didn't miss anything. It's over and done with now and two men of courage and integrity are now friends.

Dick,
You're right!
Unfortunately, in any forum there are two styles, flamer and contributors.
Fortunately in this forum, the overwhelming majority contribute.
I've learned so much from the contributors over the last few years that I found that this is a most valuable place to spend my time.

RE: For all to read.................
Might this have something to do with the guy who posted some remarks about lumber yard workers on the string about table saw safety? If so, the I believe I may have irked some on by coming back at that guy and telling him to watch his words. Some others took things a little farther from there.
For what its worth, sorry if I was the catalyst to get everyone going about his comments. Just gets me sometimes when people aren't aware of their surroundings.

A lot of good things have been said here.
Woodchuck 1954 - Absolutely! If it is distastful to one, one can choose to ignor.
007 - you didn't miss anything worth rehashing. However this will take you to a locked thread, since it has been brought up to your attention. http://forums.woodworking.com/cgi-sh...rum=DCForumID8
GBates - You Sir have diffenatly seen truth. For right you are and I do hope the friendship will continue to grow. I expect it will. I have a great deal of respect now for Dano. And I call him friend in the truest sense of the word.
RRich - I don't know exactly where I fit into your words, but I choose to place myself into the contributing side, where and when possible. It is so very hard to stay level and what has been witnessed by many is where things can go.
I no longer have any regrets about what is over and done and I am glad you requested it locked by Lee. Yet let it stand. Dano and I both have seconded that it stand.
And I look forward to future sharing of methods, and woodworking advice with Dano.
A forum is like a universal mind. As its input grows, it helps many.
And the best will occasionally exibit a fire of light much like a rare diamond.
I think this forum is a rare gem indeed!
Larliz - I don't think you had anything to do with the underlieing subject of Dick's post.
And Dick, my old friend! Thanks for a time of closure and words of wisdom. They do not fall on deaf ears here, know that, my friend.
I wish all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. To heart one should take Woodmanglers outstanding post of "Last Year....This Year" in just talking. For it is a great post.
And several of you who are relitively new or have never seen some of the early wars of this forum have learned quite a bit, especially about me.
A pitbull with a sharks jaws, yet, man enough to pick up and dust off a man when I'm wrong and to appologise to him.
I belive Dano and I will become very good friends in the future. Much as I have found many, many good friends here.
If not, I'd not come here. This forum is my "homepage" on my home computer. That's how highly I value this forum and all of its participants.
I apologise again to those of you who may still be a little shell shocked. The lesson isn't an easy one.

Since I heard........
.....my name mentioned here, Sonny, I thought I would pop in. Can't really add much to what you said, other than thanks for the kind words. FWIW, the thread can contribute to the positive development of this forum, I believe, in that all can learn from it....

Real Men!
I have been on the net almost forever and this forum for a long time. Misunderstandings in this cyberspace are very easy to make. I have been known to come out with both guns blazing when I thought I was attacked. Most of the time I have found out it was a simple miscomunication and no harm was originally intended.
What we have seen here is two adults it the true sense of the word. It is hard to shake hands and decided to put things behind and move forward in a positive way.
I respect you both for it even more than before.
