    Walker Turner lathe

    Hi
I have an old Walker Turner woodworking lathe that's not in a very good state. I want to restore it but as far as I can tell the company doesn't exist any longer so here I am looking for help. Does anyone know where I can get information or spareparts for my lathe?

    Best regards
    Haldor

Restoring old tools is a great way to end up with something better than you can buy today. But, it is filled with the need to be creative in how you do it. I don't think you will find any "Walker Turner" parts.

But, I doubt that you will have to have anything from them to do this task.

There is a great artical on rebuilding a Walker Turner Bandsaw in the Feb 1993 issue of Fine Woodworking. Issue 98. This issue is out of print, but you should be able to find it at your local library.

The Aurthor goes though the steps required to rebuild almost any major tool.

Most of the things that you will need new will be standard lathe tools.

Email me if you can't find the artical and I will see what I can do.

    Hello Haldor,

Here is a very good site for info on old, or should I say "classic" woodworking equipment. I recently found some info on my old Boice-Crane lathe there.

    Good luck with your search.

    Thanks for the tip Lou.

I might contact you again because I'm not sure I can find this magazine in any library here in Iceland.

    Regards
    Haldor
