When I get a fire under my ol" frame I start moving........I just joined a Turning Club ,$18 a year with free cokes, coffee and donuts once a month.
First meeting is April 20th
Annual Retreat...the 18th and 19th of May. There will be 48 lathes on hand at the fairgrounds in Conroe ,Texas and there will be "Handson Section" for the Newbies, with one on one teaching.
I just might go buy me a 4 jaw chuck tomorrow to celebrate.
For any Texas locals this area..........If you are interested, the Club President is Boyce Gahagan, phone 281 446 1590 for details. You got to be a member to go to the retreat.I assume your lodging and expences are on your own ticket........well sure they are ,you want egg in your beer too??
I guess Gladys will go to the Casino that week end hahaha. She needs to win a bunch I might want to buy something else before to long.
That will be, without a doubt, the best $18 you ever spent to learn how to get the most out of turning. I have joined two local (well each are 1 1/2 hours away) turning chapters and continue to be amazed at the skils and generosity these people have and how open they are to teach and talk to anyone. I guess it comes from the passion they have for turning.
