ok now dont laugh
but this is my first turning

i now have my grandfathers old lathe ( he passed away ) when i brought it home and turned it on for the first time it was spinning backwards its an old ( circa 1972 ) model

well that bowl was just scrap wood glued together i am planing on doing a segmented bowl whem my new chisels come in
i want to have some fun with this

Yeah, after I posted I went back took a closer look and noted that there didn't seem to be many joints, so figured it was a glued up block. Many of my first turnings, several years ago, were done that way. Still looks darned good.

Cool beans daddy-o!
If I may... a couple things on the pic...
Make the pic smaller... right now it's 1024 X 768 pixels... shoot for no number larger than 800 and it'll fit in the screen better and load a little quicker...
Also, take the pic more looking at the side of the bowl, rather than straight down into the bowl like that pic...
You're off to a great start ... Just having a first turning look like a bowl was beyond me!

Pretty good looking first bowl there. Looks like you have a decent start on this craft.
