    First Hollow Form

    Hey everyone,

Well this was my first attempt ever at a hollow form. It's walnut with a spalted maple collar. Dimensions are about 4" high, 3.5" wide at the base and the collar is 1 1/4" wide.

I also decided to experiment with finishing. The finish is Minwax wipe on poly. I used 5 coats with a buffing of 0000 steel wool between coats. Nice thing was that it dries within 2 to 3 hours between coats. Drying time will vary between location I am sure. Finally I Beall buffed it. Using only the Tripoli and Carnauba wax. I skipped the white diamond step. All critiques welcome.

kinda looks like the shape of an apple! :)

Nice job William, you are off and running. Now please try and resize your pics so they fit on the screen as your pic size is affecting the width of the text and you have to scroll back and forth to read the posts. Here is the same pic 640x480. You have it at 1000x700.
