    What is "Sandply"?

I was looking at hardwood ply at the local home center, and noticed something labeled as "sandply". It said it was hardwood, but not which hardwood. It was a few bucks less than birch for a 4 x 8 sheet. So, what is it and what would you use it for?

Lightly sanded, ready for primer and paint. Since it's designed to be painted that's why the specie is unimportant.

I have used it for most of my shop cabinets. Looks really good, even with a clear finish!
