    Finishes

Why do I buld a nice project and destroy it with the finish? I sand everything very well and it looks very nice. I use mostly Pine because of the cost and it's a pretty wood. Can anyone tell me if there is a fomula for Pine. Please feel free to e mail directly if you would like. Thank you. Ken.

Can't e-mail ya' as you didn't leave an e-mail address!

There have been several threads of late about the problems with pine. Construction grade pine, can be finished though. Use a 1# cut of shellac prior to staining. this will help the stain go on more or less even. Or, you can skip the stain all together and use shellac for your color.

Ken, I've used Minwax Conditioner on pine with good results. This is a simple process and helps the stain turn out much more evenly than it would on raw pine.
