RE: Sometimes you should just say no...

I think that the blue pipe material was probably sewer pipe - check the inside - if it is brown then it is used sewer pipe }>

Makes for a very nice pen no matter what the material is. And the black chrome pen kit is the perfect compliment for sewer pipe IMNSHO :)

The Diamondwood pen is very nice too, though I still prefer colorgrain. And once again, the gun metal pen kit finish works very well with the Diamondwood. Gunmetal is probably my all around favorite kit finish. It goes well with almost any turning material.

Nice pens! And the pics are very good too!

nice job Marc! and i am with Doug -- looks like used sewer pipe ;) :) :) :)

one of these years i will turn a pen... but until then... i will just admire from afar...

and the pics look pretty good to me... but then again, my photo setup is usually a bed sheet, a light source somewhere in the room, and a point and shoot digital camera... :)

    later, John

Sometimes you should just say no...

So... had this pen blank... someone sent it to me (Carl?) ... sorry, senior moment, can't remember...

Anyway... it is a chunk of a blue plastic pipe... kind of a unique color blue, but still, it is a chunk of blue plastic...

Anyway... royal pain in the patootie to turn.. although with the fan blowing from behind me it was kinda fun seeing how long of a blue plastic string I could get before it wrapped around the everything in sight :)

So... here is a blue plastic pen...

Then I did a Diamondwood pen... and the pic sucked... so I tore into the photo booth again to see if I could get a better pic... added a couple of reflector boards and changed from the white window shade back to the blue paper...

    Whaddya think?
