    Rust removers

I had occasion to go from my local Woodcraft store to Pep Boys (Pennsylvania's automotive supply.) I was looking at the rust remover in Woodcraft,R-9, telling myself I would get it next time, feeling way too cheap to part with a whopping $16. I made my way to Pep Boys and saw rust remover there for $6. Has anyone had any experience with automotive rust remover? Will I get similar results from these products?

I don't know. I just use a bit of vinegar and some sandpaper. Clean it afterward with mineral spirits, then coat with some light oil. Mineral oil works nicely.

I'm a vinegar man myself, distilled white. Keep the surface fully wet with it while you work the rust, then get it ALL off & dried quickly. Werx wonders for me.
