    Another Concrete Question

I've decided not to go with a thin layer of concrete over my existing patio so I busted up all the bricks today. Now, they were ontop of an already exesting slab that looks to be part of the original house slab. What I'm doing is extending my patio out further into the yard and wanted the whole thing to be uniform in appearence so I'm going to pour one large patio slab instead of a small concrete slab connecting to my existing brick patio. The level of the new slab will be about 3" above where the existing slab is that was under the brick. SOOOO, can I pour this 3" slab ontop of this existing slab without any problems? Do I need to do anything special to the existing slab to get it ready other than clean it?

    Thanks,
    Stine

    RE: Another Concrete Question

I think... I'd pressure-wash it, twice - once with a detergent, once without (to rinse). Then I'd etch it with muriatic acid & rinse it again. Then I think you'd get a really good bond.

Probably help to wet it down just before the pour, too.
