    Curly Maple ToolBox Completed

    http://www.PhotoShare.co.nz/PhotoSha...ight013143.jpg
It's 36" wide, 23¾" deep and 52" tall. The top box is 19¾" deep.

The upper right drawer is a recharging station for my cordless droplight and drill.

This lower pegboard drawer will hold stripe tape.

I ran out of curly maple so I made the drawer pulls from some Bubinga (African Rosewood) I had left over from a TV stand I built a while back.

Funny how camera settings make such a differnce in how it looks, above was with no flash

With flash but high shutter speed (1/2000th).

With flash but camera set to auto.[/DIV]

What do you think of it?

Very nice Mike, I really like the contrasting drawer pulls. I liked the other box too, quality is quality... no argument, but that said, the contrast gives a bit more BLING, IMHO. Nice Work guy!.... Jim@JLazy3

Dude, your going to use that in an auto-body shop???????

If your toolboxes (i.e. mechanics style) all look like that, I could not imagine the bedroom set you must have built for the wife. It just seems like to "Nice a Piece" to store old used Bondo spreaders on....

I agree with Jim - the contrasting wood really makes the piece. As beautiful as the other one was, and as beautiful as the curly maple is in general, I think it really needed the darker pulls. It's gorgeous. If it was a little narrower I'd ask if I could buy it from you to take the place of the chest of drawers my wife wants me to make. ;)

Each piece you display here amazes me because of the craftsmanship put into each piece.

    I enjoy seeing your work.

    Thanks for sharing.

    RE: Curly Maple ToolBox Completed

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the kind words. My wife has threatend to take it for her sewing room, so I need to get it into the shop this weekend. I told her I'd build her one if she'd like.

My next project though is to build a large clock to put on top of this toolbox, keep crap from pileing up on top of it. This is the plan I drew in CorelDraw. [div align="center"]
    http://www.PhotoShare.co.nz/PhotoSha...kPrint8667.jpg [/div]
I have a high torque clock works with 17½" hands, the clock will be 40" in diameter, the top circle below the 12 is for one of those inserts that tells the [link:www.klockit.com/products/sku-DDDDB.html|days] (Sunday, Monday etc....) the bottom numbers are for a [link:www.klockit.com/products/sku-BBBBT.html|thermometer works](wish I could find one that didn't cover such a huge range -40°to 120°) and the two 4" circles between the 7, 6 and 5 are for a [link:www.klockit.com/products/sku-AAAQQ.html|hygrometer] and barometer inserts.

I'll probably use ¾" Baltic Birch ply for the clock and bubinga or cherry for the main numbers, probably walnut for the days and temp.

    Thanks again. ~Mike
