    WTB Iron Planes

Looking for some decent older iron planes. I'm not interested in collector items, rather decent used planes for workers.

    RE: WTB Iron Planes

I have never before been a plane user, but have recently learned a love for both older tools and hand tools. (Currently I’m using a 1939 Delta PM65 drill press, a 1940s Delta Homecraft joiner, late 30s 12 inch powr-kraft band saw, and 1972 Delta Contractors table. Each has been brought back from poor condition to near new, and will stand up to anything available today.

Never being a user of either planes or scrapers, I’ve stated using a card scraper before finish sanding, and now would like to learn to use hand planes as my skills improve. I’m not a collector, but enjoy the restoration as well as the dreams of what other projects these tools were used on as I use them.

I am after both a jack plane for initial work, and a smoothing plane for an alternative to my card scraper. I have no visions (at this time) to ever try a joiner plane.
