jig for routing flutes
I AM LOOKING FOR PLANS TO MAKE A ROUTER JIG TO CUT FLUTES LIKE YOU WOULD USE ON THE FACE FRAME OF A CABINET.
ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS

SIMPLE: put an edge guide on your router and be certain that you've got a straight rip on the stock.
I've tried overlay frames and specialized tables, but nothing seems to work better than a steady hand and a good old fashioned edge guide.
(I've run thousands of feet like this, and as long as you set up correctly, there will be easy cutting. Don't let the router sit on one place as core box bits tend burn easily.)

RE: jig for routing flutes
In addition to the previous advice. Whatever size flute your trying to obtain use the next size bit. Reason is so that you don't have to route as deeply and get the same effect. This aslo helps maintain more structural integrity if its a part of your frame work.

RE: jig for routing flutes
The methods I've been using is this; use a table mounted router make a line on the back of the frame piece where you want to start and stop. Mark a line on the table fence over the center of the guide; then just lower the piece onto the bit while holding it against the fence at the start line and lift off at the stop line. Turn it around and do the other side for a two fluted frame piece. This is only good for flat stock, but it is quick and easy, especially for even numbered flutes.
