    Cutting through it.....

....I did come up with this:

    4. Keep Saw Blades clean. Use lacquer thinner or oven cleaner to remove gum and residue. Do not scrape with any tool that will scratch the surface of the blade.

So....I still wonder why the "lower end" manufactures are so scared about oven cleaner.
Could it be they don't want to divulge that their cheaper for a good reason, inferior quality of materials and manufacturing techniques? At a marginally cheaper and at times over priced product of lesser quality.

Here my proof and back-up. I have used lacquer thinner, but don't like the flammability of it. The oven cleaner, on the other hand, has been a great cleaner for me.

    What say Ye?

The DC explosion myth is dead, very dead.
Are we ready to say the oven cleaner hype is Bullsh*t as well?

    :D, like a fox.

YUP! It does say "........or oven cleaner...". Works for me Sonny. (I already use it anyway. Figure I've never seen an oven fall apart from it.)

We have a self cleaning oven but those damn splash pans under the burners are not . Thats one of my jobs around this hangout is to clean them. If it works on them I know it works on router bits and saw blades.

My can warns not to pass gas while using this product.
I thought it meant the oven, now I see it means organic vapors.
Can you rebuild? Or is it a total loss?
    Hope you didn't get scorched.

hey i just a thought.(don't have many so i had to share this one. ha ha).one day while visiting an elderly neighbor woman and explaining that i needed to clean the oven as my wife is unable to.she told me a secret.if u have a standing pilot light put a glass bowl of ammonia in it for 7 or 8 hrs and leave the stuff just wipes off.my stove is automatic light and clean except the door and bottom panel. i remove them place in black olastic trash bag about 1/4 cup ammonia tie up put in very hot sun generally 90 or higher.before sun goes down remove and rinse it off good everything rinses off no scrubbing.might work on saw blades to.just have to do it in the summer.my oven literally looks new and sparkles like new.i will be trying this myself.also cleans those drip pans on the burners.iremoved the plastic trim on the door before doing this.this does stink in the house so u need to leave if in the oven.this works great.now my job is to clean oven everytime.so i put the bag go make sawdust all day rinse it off i am done.just a thought. jackplane

    Sounds like a thought Jackplane.
I'm in a bit more hurry though myself. And I personally don't care for ammonia or even bleach smells.
So I continue to squirt and rinse with the oven cleaner. Back up in about 5 minutes usually.
But your method might work good for router bits in a rack. Get the whole bunch at once.
Sounds like an idea anyhow. :D

WARNING! DON'T EVER MIX AMMONIA AND BLEACH TOGETHER! THEY WILL REACT AND GENERATE CHLORINE GAS! DEADLY!

    Now there's a thought Dave....

    HiYa Dave,
You must be kinda busy these days, don't catch Ya post often enough.
This whole thing stems from another time, another place in a volly with a Frued Tech maskarading as a know all for Frued.
The SOB couldn't/wouldn't back his mouth up. I've since pretty much stopped visiting that neighborhood/kingdom.
They have a distinct pecking order and a lot of ignorant folks there.
I have better things to do.
But I'm a pitbull when I get on some myth. I'll hunt till I kill it it and have the resources back up what I'm saying.

Ya been up to much in the shop? Yer keepin that beer holder full aren't cha?
